INVITATION:

HOST A PUBLIC INTEREST DESIGN INSTITUTE

Design Corps invites proposals to host a Public Interest Design Institute. These two-day professional development workshops are designed to support public interest design in your local community. Successful completion of a Public Interest Design Institute (PIDI) qualifies attendees for 13 CEUs (AIA & USGBC) or PDHs (ASLA), AXPs (NCARB), and certification as a SEED Professional.

Host organizations are invited to identify issues of interest locally and work with Design Corps staff to identify appropriate guest presenters. The host may also presents a project of their own, and suggest local practitioners to present work that exemplifies the SEED mission, principles, and methodology.

Design Corps will provide SEED Certified instructors, all administrative support, and fiscal management, including registrations. We seek the following from a partner host:

  • A room large enough to hold 80 attendees, with A/V capacity.
  • A relationship with academic and/or professional organization(s) who are willing to help inform their members about the event.
  • The ability to network and spread event information to the local community.
  • Ability to raise $2,000 to support scholarships for 20 local students and community members.

Design Corps has hosted 33 Public Interest Design Institutes across the US and abroad since 2011, all of which have earned high marks from participants. Summaries, agendas, lists of speakers, & participant evaluations may be found at www.PublicInterestDesign.com.
